This was my second time reading this book. I didn't think I fully appreciated it the first time and I was looking for a shorter book to read. After reading I know I definitely didn't appreciate it last time. I loved the themes, characters, plot, story and writing. I felt like I was right there with the main character, feeling angry, sad and all of the emotions with him. I had to have a cry after reading this book, which is impressive especially since I already knew how it ended and I never cry at books. I can proudly say that A Monster Calls is now the first book to ever make me cry- a well deserved title I'd say. I think I will definitely read this again at some point and it up there in my all time favourites.
