Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel

5.0

A strangely peaceful look at a world completely changed by a horrible flu that killed most of the population of the world. It is not peaceful, there is death and evil, and a fight to survive. And yet the words are put together in such a way that it feels peaceful. And hopeful. That good will win, that the lights will come back on and that people will be better for it. My favorite part might be that there is music and art, even in the end of the world because, to quote the book, which borrowed the quote from Star Trek "survival is insufficient." They will do more than survive.
