Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn

i did not enjoy this book unfortunately, which was extremely disappointing because i’ve heard such great things about the author. I feel like the main character’s many traumas overshadowed the already horribly gruesome murders of the little girls which unsettled me. However on top of that, the book was extremely triggering in so many other instances. I felt as if the author kept trying to go for the shock factor and didn’t quite know when it was enough. I found myself nauseated at every single sexual interaction within this book, especially when the main character sleeps with a freshly 18 year old boy and at over use of the word nipple. Aside from that, I found the twist to be predictable unfortunately and the legal process in the book to be absolutely infuriating.
