Who Stole Feminism? How Women Have Betrayed Women by Christina Hoff Sommers

5.0

What I liked most about this book is the fact that, despite her sustained criticism of “gender feminists” as a group, the author never resorts to personal attacks; indeed, she takes every opportunity to characterise those she disagrees with as “friendly” and “personable”, and gives them every opportunity to respond to criticisms. This (along with her painstaking citation of evidence) should make it hard for anyone to write her off as biased.

I actually find myself agreeing with gender feminists on some of the issues discussed in the last chapter; I would probably enjoy a “PC” romance novel, and probably wouldn’t enjoy the “ravishment” scene in Gone With the Wind. But these are matters of taste rather than substance.
