Joe is a leverman at Grand Central Station when his life changes upon a chance meeting with Nora. I loved this story and felt like I was living in the World War II and post World War II era in New York City. Most of the novel takes place in Grand Central, and the reader is given a unique look into the history of that building, while the love story between Nora and Joe is absorbing. Between the characters, the sense of place and history, this is one of my favorite books this year. It's a must read!
