Aurora Rising by Jay Kristoff, Amie Kaufman

3.0

Pretty standard-fare YA. It did not escape my notice that everyone except the "unfeeling" character was chronically horny. This is typical of the genre, and it's annoying every single time. Extremely forced and obvious every single time it's shoehorned in.

Beyond that, there is also nothing original or new about this storyline or character cast. This is the very definition of "writing to market." If you're a frequent reader of the genre, you will have read this book even if you've never picked it up before.

Still, it was an okay enough read. I'll give the sequel a go.
