Wowcha. I have finally found a Roald Dahl book that I *actually* like!
This book was really fun and exciting to read. I found the pacing really good and the narration was such a good choice.
This was a surprisingly quick read, even though it was quite long for a children’s book (200 pages).
However, there are a couple of problematic elements. The main one is that this book encourages children not to bath... because witches can smell you more if you are clean? Okay.
Also, this is a bit outdated and it’s noticeable. The main problem is about witches having a bald head, because no regular women would have bald heads. This isn’t taking into account people who are bald from illness or who choose to have bald heads. However, that’s just me being a bit picky, so I’m not deducting any points for that.
Overall, this was an enjoyable story. I would recommend to fans of Dahl or people wanting to get into his work.
