Gosh, this was definitely not the series for me. I grew up hearing about this series but had never picked it up myself, so I have no nostalgia for it. Maybe that affected my enjoyment of this first volume, but I found it terribly painful to get through. The one thing I liked was that the gender-bending aspect was picked up on pretty quickly, and we didn't get an "Am I really gay?" storyline, but other than that, nothing else captured my attention. I didn't find any of the jokes or characters funny, and I really didn't like certain personas present in the club. The club itself doesn't make much sense in what it's trying to do, and what exactly draws the boys to participate in it. Maybe these things will be addressed later, but I won't be around to find out.
