my toxic trait is i will read books because i saw them being compared to i who have never known men only to inevitably end up disappointed because they are sadly not i who have never known men. i had such high expectations for this but, while i do think it's a very well-written book and i can see why it is so acclaimed, this just kind of dragged on for me. i think this would have benefited a lot from having chapters and/or being significantly shorter. 250 pages without even as much as a single white space is actually crazy work. also i wish it had more existential reflections and less descriptions of her doing different agricultural tasks. i fear i simply do not care enough about harvesting hay to read about it ten different times. the few times it did get existential though it was very good. all in all a good book but not fully for me.
