An Indigenous Peoples' History of the United States by Roxanne Dunbar-Ortiz

challenging informative reflective slow-paced

4.0

This audiobook started off quite hard to follow. The structure never quite clicked for me, as it wasn't organized by time, by nation/region but rather by topics that were not clearly delineated by the narrator (other nonfiction audiobooks use short music to separate chapters and topics in a clear way).

All of that said, the information in this book was comprehensive and enlightening. So much American history revealed. A primary aim of the book is to deconstruct the American origin story narrative, as well as other harmful narratives like the Doctrine of Discovery and Manifest Destiny.
