Slow start, but that quickly got turned around at about 100 pages in of the book. Though the first 100 pages was necessary, in my opinion, for the book to have the most impact. And it certainly did!
I feel really hurt even though I new the ending and cried long before the sad thing happened just because I new what was coming. I know it was in the first book, but since Adeba didn’t have as much appearance I had a hard time connecting with the sorrow from paydens view. Also I feel much of her personality was lost. I know Adena wasn’t supposed to and wouldn’t have made sense to have more “screen time” but this book definitely made up for the lack in the first book! It really wasn’t fair! An excellent novella if you like to really feel heartbroken.
