An essential for anyone interested in Middle English. If you haven't read such prose before, be warned, it is not easy. For everyone, I'd recommend reading a page or two of each story in Middle English to get a sense of rhythm even if you intend to read the rest in translation (as I did for Pearl, Cleanness and Patience).
That Sir Gaiwan and the Green Knight is the most well known of these is no surprise, and is greatly deserved. The other poems are interesting more from a linguistic point of view, or if you want an Old Testament refresh (for Cleanness and Patience at least).
