Titanic Survivor: The Newly Discovered Memoirs of Violet Jessop Who Survived Both the Titanic and Britannic Disasters by Violet Jessop

4.0

I've known about Violet Jessop since I was a kid, being raised on stories of shipwrecks.

Jessop's memoirs offer us a peak into her adventurous life, but also a life that's not about to be featured on a program like Downton Abbey. Jessop is a lower middle class woman, one who occasionally gets harassed in her workplace (#HerToo), trying to stay afloat, financially and literally.

It's a fascinating look at a life not enough people know about. Maxtone-Graham's asides are mostly pointless. Jessop is the voice that shines here.
