Lotus
by Jennifer Hartmann
adventurous
emotional
mysterious
sad
medium-paced
This was a very cute, very sweet story. It didn’t quite match up to Still Beating for me but I really really enjoy that with Hartmann’s books, the dark elements are never the sole focus but rather the journey to healing is the focus.
I cannot tell you how many of my notes are me basically just cooing and awwing at almost everything Oliver does. Now he is a very well written man and Sydney is very lucky to have him.
Sydney’s character itself fell a little flat to me and was very in the shadow of Oliver and Gabe. I was much much more interested in the both of them then I was her - not a bad thing just a bit boring.
The two books in this universe I’ve read so far have definitely swayed me to pick up the others in this universe, provided the plot seems interesting enough.
