This story is well crafted but not as well written as the author's Harry Hole series I enjoy so much. I think the protagonist is interesting but kind of awkward to relate to. He has too many personality faults and does too many bad things to really like him, but he is not hard-edged or ruthless enough to accept as a full anti-hero.
