Damsel by Evelyn Skye

I don’t understand why this book is getting so much hate in the reviews. Could you invent an entire language at 13 with proper grammar and syntax?
Anyway. While I was reading this I kept having flashbacks to the other book I read a few years ago also called damsel and while not the same plot also a female protagonist and a secret dragon mystery. The mysteries were different though.
I liked this book - it’s a delightful YA, and I could picture how different scenes in a movie might play out and totally understand why you would make a movie of it. Is it a little YA tropey, yes, but isn’t that why we read YA? Go read some New Adult books or adult books hiding in YA because they were written by women. Elodie is a heroine worth our daughters being inspired by. Her story is about resilience, sisterly love, sacrifice, and never giving up. Though real life doesn’t always reward the righteous, I love to read books where it does.
