Power Switch by Kennedy L. Mitchell
5.0
Warning: This is a series where the books are in continuation. If you haven't read the first book, then there may be SPOILERS in the review.
Synopsis:
Trey is executing his plan in order to gain support against the President's bill to strip low-income Americans of their voting rights, but it doesn't mean that Randi has to be happy with his plan. With things getting more out of control than either of them anticipated, will Randi and Trey be able to keep their relationship intact while keeping everything else at bay?
Review:
In an interesting turn of narration, this story starts with a prologue from not the main character's, but a minor character's perspective. Though of course Jessica is attached to Trey in an important way. And just like that, she becomes a major part of the narrative from now. The rest of the book is from Trey and Randi's first-person perspective only.
The first charming thing about this story was the matureness that was visible in their relationship. The author delivered what she promised, a gradual progression through their life while Randi is elected the VP and Trey is in the capacity of one of her secret servicemen. And this book is hotter than the previous two. Though it comes with its own set of challenges as well. The second charming thing has to be more of the adorable Randi-isms as the author herself describes. Randi's quirky conversations with her own self, and uninhibited dirty talk with Trey in front of T, is hilarious.
Can I say again how I love it when Trey and T express their love for each other? It's been eleven months now of Randi being the VP, and as much as I love Randi and Trey together, I loved it more when Randi came into her own in this part of the series.
This is a political suspense story and in any suspense narrated from the main character's perspectives, the one thing I enjoy is the secrets one of the characters isn't privy too when another's POV is going on. There are time leaps in the narrative, from a few weeks to a month, but the longest there is, is one of six months. For us readers, it may just be the next chapter, but thinking what could have happened in the storyline during that time makes me somewhat anxious.
What happens at the end is momentous and something that I never even imagined happening. Though it didn't end without its share of fear! With this series, it seems the next book is always better than the previous one. I don't know how Mitchell does it but I love this series. It is going from good, to better, to what I'm damn sure will be the best! And the author doesn't disappoint to the very last as she ends the story with a bang.
P.S. A new journey will start now in the fourth book and even though I knew that this was a series of five books in continuation, I wonder why I do this to myself. Even with a satisfying conclusion, I can't wait to read what happens next, in Power Surge, coming out on 22 June 2020!
Thank you to InkSlinger PR for an e-ARC of the book.

What if… what if this is the beginning of the end of us?
