Tale on a Parchment: ...when the ancestors won't let us forget... by M. I. Criomtainn

4.0

This was a delightful journey into lives both present and past. As an enthusiast for Irish history, etymology, and archeaology, I delighted in the extensive details the author shared. I felt transported into both the modern and ancient timelines. I loved the characters, though the main character in the past was in danger of being TOO good, she still had her flaws. There are some minor editing quibbles, but for the most part, it was very well written.

It is obvious the author did her research, and yet was able to translate that research into readable scenes without too much information dumping. The cadence of the tales reminded me of the rhythm of ancient Irish tales.

The tale follows a modern-day archeaological dig and the account of a young woman in 7th century Ireland, as she deals with growing up, love, loss, and sometimes the violence of life in that era.
