Such a Fun Age by Kiley Reid

Wow, what a book. I picked this up on a whim because of the discourse surrounding the Reading Rush, and I’m so glad I did.

This book is about a young Black woman in her mid-20s finding herself when her friends seem to have it all figured out. It’s about how people feel entitled to Black women’s time and attention and more. It’s about how those who have the best of intentions or call themselves “allies” still inflict and perpetuate harm against the Black community.

I loved reading this book. The writing was delightful and compulsively readable. Every time I put it down I would pick it back up again.

This is a book that will stick with me for a long time.
