The Dark Queen's Apothecary by Cassandra L. Thompson

3.0

"The Dark Queen’s Apothecary" by Cassandra L. Thompson proved to be a challenging read initially. The book's beginning was somewhat slow for my reading style, but I powered through, and I was pleasantly surprised by how the story picked up.

This book encompasses various elements that align with some of my favorite genres. The Queen is a captivating antagonist, and the apothecary, initially a weak character, undergoes a satisfying development.

I found myself connecting with characters throughout the book, each contributing another layer to the story. If you enjoyed this standalone novella, I recommend exploring "The Ancient Ones" trilogy by Cassandra L. Thompson.

My primary reason for giving it 3 stars is the slow start and the initial difficulty in getting drawn into the book within the first few chapters. Nevertheless, the overall experience is wonderful for enthusiasts of erotic fantasy.

This review is based on an free ARC that I had the privilege of being a part of, and I express my sincere gratitude to the author and BookSirens.
