This was a solid 3.5 stars for me but since I have to round, I’m rounding down. Sitting here trying to figure out why and I can’t put my finger on it, but I just didn’t think this was a solid 4. So 3 it is. Tessa is a Boston State Trooper who appears to have shot her husband to death. She has bruises and cuts on her face and body and her daughter is missing. To make a long story short, Tessa’s husband was a gambling addict, not an abuser. He and his friend, Shane, another cop (and gambler) owe big money. They work with the lieutenant and embezzle money from the police fund. Lieutenant hires a hit man and has Brian, Tessa’s husband, killed and forces Tessa to make it look like she is a battered wife and killed him. Sophie, Tessa’s daughter, is taken as an insurance policy. Tessa finds out and kills Shane, the hitman and the lieutenant. DD and Bobby track her, figure it out and all is well. Quick and easy read. Wasn’t her best. Wasn’t her worst.
