We Only Find Them When They're Dead, Book One: The Seeker by Al Ewing
1.5
viscerally hated the art in this. the characters have very little in terms of personality or story and the motives behind everything are shrouded in secret until the very end, making for a confusing read. adding to that confusion is the constant time hopping and how every page is soaked in neon lighting effects that obscure the art. this could have been such a cool concept but instead pivoted to focusing on family drama that was ultimately incredibly bland and uninteresting. we barely got anything about the "gods" (what are they? why are they called that? why the hell are we harvesting their meat for food? why do they look like every other character in this comic with the same awful pouty lips that can only make two or three expressions at best?) and that's the only unique idea this comic had. the dialogue also really dragged everything down, especially cause half the script is just repeating the same phrases over and over again. Just a real slog of a read despite being pretty short.
