3/5 ⭐️: a collection of stories about Korean women (the titular “Miss Kims”) from different walks of life, who represent various ages and perspectives. All are united by their experiences of gender-based violence, discrimination, and harassment. The collection explores similar themes to Cho Nam-joo’s novel “Kim Jiyoung, Born 1982,” which I preferred to this. While the stories were fine, they weren’t particularly memorable. It’s still an important book, especially as an exploration of gender in Korea, but I think “Kim Jiyoung…” was more impactful.
