The Lost Child by Emily Gunnis

5.0

I haven't read a book like this one for so long, but as soon as I read the synopsis I knew I was going to enjoy it.
This book starts out really strong and it didn't drop my attention once, I read this in one sitting and I enjoyed it so much. I loved how this book had different themes and genres woven into the plot. We follow the characters as they go through family struggles, the story jumps back and forth from past to present and has an added surprise at every turn.
This book combines historical fiction, family saga, mental health, childbirth and motherhood, mystery, thriller and a long-kept family secret, all tied up with a ribbon and presented to the reader in such a beautiful way that you can't help but read on for more. I was so shocked by the ending, I never once imagined that there was anything more than all we had already gotten and I really enjoyed my time reading Emily Gunnis's book.
I've not read a book like this for so long, but now I want to read so many more like it, starting with the author's other book! I highly recommend.
