SYNOPSIS
Who is Lucy? Where did she come from? Is she a German spy? Why can't she talk?

These are questions that the people of Scilly Isles face when Alfie and his fisherman father find a young girl--injured, ill, and alone--on a deserted island in 1915. She doesn't speak, save for one uttered word: Lucy. They take her home, and she becomes part of the family.

Not everyone on the island is happy about it, though. The whole family, especially Alfie and Lucy, face criticism and persecution born of their neighbors' suspicion. The mistrust and mistreatment worsen when evidence suggests Lucy may be German--one of the enemy. Adding to the problem is the fact that Lucy doesn't even seem to know who she is; even if she could talk, she couldn't tell them who she is or where she came from.

With the help of her loving adopted family, perhaps Lucy's memories and ability to speak can be restored. Perhaps she will be able to explain who she is. Perhaps the island will come to accept her. Or... perhaps not.

PARTIAL REVIEW
I LOVED this book. The perspectives, the characters, the lessons, the audiobook readers... It was a wonderful listen.

PARTIAL CONTENT
This book is appropriate for readers of most ages. There is some violence, smoking, and minor language (taking the Lord’s name in vain and name-calling).

BOTTOM LINE
This was a fantastic book. There was very little I didn't like about it. I highly recommend it! Listen to the audiobook if you can!
