The Poison Jungle by Tui T. Sutherland
5.0
Please note that this review is written for my use as a librarian and may not appeal directly to readers. Please review at your own risk.
Accelerated Reader has not yet rated this book, but I would recommend it for middle grades and up (4th grade+).
I absolutely loved this book, even if I was frustrated by where it left off and how long I have to wait for the next one. Sundew’s character arc is great. We see some of her growth through the first two lost continent books, but we get to see a lot more of her real thoughts and growth here. I love the prickly pair who changes for love and friendship. I also think it’s really refreshing to see how relationships are tested when partners see more of each other and encounter trials.
Caution Notes*:
Mind control, LGBTQ+, death, scary plants
Recommended for:
Kids who are interested in fantasy, specifically dragons.
Summary:
-Do not read past this point if you would like to avoid spoilers-
I really don’t want to spoil the book for now, since it is so new. I’ll just make myself the note for now that this starts when Sundew, Cricket, Blue, and Swordtail get to the jungle and it ends with the exodus.
*Caution notes are not to say, don’t read the book. I only include these so that those individuals who have particular themes they do not like to read about or are not ready for their kids to read about are aware. I do not support censoring. :)
