Queen of Shadows by Sarah J. Maas
5.0

I don’t even know where to begin with Queen of Shadows. It felt like I was watching a TV show or a movie unfold in my mind. Honestly, reading this book was one of the best I’ve ever read as an adult.
The story continues the journey of a strong female assassin (that’s all I’ll say about her or else this review would be riddled with spoilers) Aelin, who is determined to save her friends from the sinister King of Adarlan and the Valg Princes, all while working to free magic itself. This series is so intricate, and the world-building is impressively clear. When Sarah J. Maas connects threads from previous books, it’s always thrilling and leaves me wanting more.
What I love most about Maas's writing is how she seamlessly ends a story arc while still paving the way for the next installment. I have grown to adore each character, especially Aelin, Manon, and Lysander and so many more female characters who are portrayed with such strength and depth. The importance of every female character in this series is highlighted beautifully.
There are three books left in the series, and two of them are suggested to be read together, which makes me excited to dive deeper. I really want to move on to the next books, but at the same time, I want to savor this story a little longer.
