Daughter of Mine by Megan Miranda
4.0
⭐️4.5 / I really enjoyed this! the first 20% or so was kinda slow but once things started moving, the pacing felt more consistent. there was a safety/security threat which I loved (ie: someone’s been in the house) but also a familial vibe with the tense dynamics, secrets, and overall small-town setting. MM is great at braiding all these storylines together and wrapping them up pretty neatly by the end. I think perhaps I could have seen some truths coming, but there were so many threads that it was hard to even hypothesize without having more questions. I also loved the drought and how the arrival of rain was used as an indicator of chaos. that’s always been one of my favorite uses of symbolism in books/tv/movies—the drought and then the approaching storm did a great job of adding tension. really well done!
