For starters, I just want to establish that this is a review of a 22-year old who hasn't read Percy Jackson in her childhood.

---

This book is a good, funny, and lighthearted read which made me realize that I haven't read a funny book in a long time.

However, I just feel that the other mythology-inspired books that I've read prior to this one have raised the bar for me. But hey, I don't think the author aimed to deeply educate the readers about mythology. So this one is already a cool introductory material to the myths.

I also felt that the plot was too shallow and predictable (for me, I mean, again, I'm 22). And as a big fan of books with great characterization, I was a bit sad that the characters were too oblivious, as if they did not know how to put two and two together. But, at the end of the day. They are kids. I should give them enough credit for accomplishing their quest.

I was hesitant to continue the series but my little sister (who is also reading the series with me) enjoyed the second and third one so I'll give this series another shot. :)
