The Autoimmune Fix: How to Stop the Hidden Autoimmune Damage That Keeps You Sick, Fat, and Tired Before It Turns Into Disease by Tom O'Bryan

Did not finish book.

1.0

My mom got this book and loaned it to me since we both have celiac and are concerned with the clustering of autoimmune diseases that seem to come with it.

This book though. This book is not helpful. He talks about large foreheads meaning you have celiac and says that rice has gluten in it.

RICE DOES NOT HAVE GLUTEN.

Look, I can't eat rice because of inflammation issues (it makes my feet swell and hurt to the point I have trouble walking) and my mom has been tested as allergic to it, so yes, these two celiacs avoid rice. BUT IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH HAVING CELIAC DISEASE. BECAUSE RICE DOES NOT CONTAIN GLUTEN.

This guy is talking about his experience with treating celiac and NCGS and yet he says rice has gluten?!? The mind boggles. Seriously, I was flipping through the book to see if this would be useful since my "place on the autoimmune spectrum" is "HAS AUTOIMMUNE DISEASE" and had come to the conclusion that no, it wasn't going to be that helpful to me (I pretty much follow AIP) and then I came across the "rice has gluten" beauty and just about threw the book at the wall.

Don't read this book. Seriously. Unless you want to be diagnosed as celiac because of your large forehead and have to avoid rice forever. Ugh.
