Frigid by Jennifer L. Armentrout

1.0

While other people were reading Twilight, I was reading Jennifer L. Armentrout's The Lux series. It's slightly more trashy than Twilight but also slightly more addictive. Younger me read all five installments in quick succession, sneeringly mocking the horrendous writing whilst also not being able to stop obsessing over the series. Quality or no, that weird time period in my life has a special place in my heart and so do Jennifer L. Armentrout's books. Whatever I have to say about her storytelling abilities(or Dameon Black), her books are memorable and stand out in the sea of books I read years ago. So that's why I decided to pick up her new adult offering, which turned out... to be a huge mistake. This book was awful, so awful I almost can't believe it. It's full of all the worst new adult tropes: relationships solely based on sex and loads and loads of hating other female characters, poor plot lines and cringe worthy dialogue... I could go on but I won't. Just know that I had skip A LOT of sex and when I did there was only a couple chapters left and I hadn't missed a thing. Kind of a waste of an afternoon. Stick to the Lux series.
