I didn’t vibe with this one. It took us a little too long to get to know each character, how they were connected to each other, and how they were connected to Dawson. Obviously the cult-like eating of live cicadas and sacrificing the poor townies so the rich can live well is intense and interesting, but our POVs started with a bang but fizzled out real quick before they could latch on. The writing style didn’t bring much tension or buildup, leaving each scene feeling flat and not like they were really leading anywhere. I think it would have worked smoother with only 2 POVs rather than 4. Let us know less and figure things out with our characters so that there feels like a driving force (personally, I would have picked the girls; they have the most to lose)
