Parker and Mia have been friends for years, what with Parker and Mia's brother being best friends, and while they did become somewhat estranged for a while, they've never stopped caring for one another. They both become members of Society X, a sex club that caters to select clientele, but neither one is aware of the other one's membership. It is in the club's highly popular Dark Room that they connect in a way neither one ever thought possible. But you see, it's called the Dark Room for several reasons: you can't see who you're having sex with, you can't speak to one another, and you can't exchange any sort of personal information with your partner. It may have been anonymous sex, but Parker and Mia both felt something much deeper, forming an attachment to each other, even without knowing who they'd been intimate with.
One of my favorite things about this book was how Parker found himself falling for his Dark Room partner, while at the same time acknowledging his long-held feelings for his best friend's sister, not knowing that they were one and the same. This isn't really a spoiler since this made pretty clear early on in the story. Also, there's a heck of a lot more that happens in the story that leads to lots of complications for both Parker and Mia. This book is like the gift that keeps on giving, combining the friends to lovers trope with hints of office romance and falling-for-your-best-friend's-sibling. Both Parker and Mia were wonderful main characters, and I can't wait to find out whose story is up next in the series, though I'm hoping Andrew Hudson and Bryce Adams will get theirs, respectively, as well. Dark Room gets five stars. ♥
