Ehhh I read this based on a recommendation, but it was just not for me.

The general idea seemed pretty cool, with Fitz having the Wit (animal connection magic) sounding right up my alley. I just did not really care how the story ended and the characters kept doing things that flabbergasted me and were out of left field, like I was very confused many times as to why events ended up as they did, lol.

My favorite character was the Fool, and I would love to know more about their character, but sadly I do not think I will read any more of this series because overall I just did not get hooked. The only couple parts that actually made me feel something were when Fitz has some heartfelt moments with his dog companions.

I think one of the other things that bothered me was the style of narrative, with it being told/written by an older Fitz as he reminisces on his past. Idk why, but man that annoyed me, and I kept thinking my god how many books until we get to his present day? Because of this, many things were like already hinted at that probably won't be revealed till the series end and ehhh that is just not for me.

But not a bad fantasy, just not my fave. Liked it enough to finish it :)
