WHOAH. I love the fact that this is a book not about zombies, but a book about journalists in America with zombie outbreaks being a normal everyday thing. I needed a few hours to decompress from the death of Georgia, the death of Buffy took a whole day. Buffy was a sweet bean who needed to be protected! (womp womp) I was in complete shock when Georgia was killed off, I could not believe it was actually happening, an author was actually killing off the main character. The character that the entire book has been told from her point of view. WHAT. I chose to listen to the audiobook and that was hard because it transitioned from 90% Georgia narrating straight to Shaun after her death. I did like Georgia's death scene the most, the amplification while writing her last blog post and reading (listening) to her thinking diminish, incredibly powerful. I am curious about the "alternate ending" that was published, "Fed". Even though I read spoilers as to how it ends, the fact that Georgia decides to kill herself in the alternate is not surprising she says that in "Feed" that if Shaun was to die first she wouldn't live long as an only child. I've seen recommendations to not read the alternate ending directly after the first book, I may wait until after the next book in the series because I was to have some distance from the character of Georgia. I do hope though that she continues to be the "mental ghost" to Shaun in the next book, dead loved ones/friends/Heather Chandlers haunting the living are my favorite.
