fae__ 's review for:
Fates Divided
by Jules Barnard
The good:
- An interesting and unique take on the Fae and angels
- Likeable characters
- A coherent plot trajectory and conclusion
- Entertaining
- Some moments of humour
- Leaves the door open for future books
The bad:
- While being NA, the novel sometimes felt like a YA book with some smut scenes thrown in
- The framing of relationships felt very early noughties and not in a good way. I think this added to the YA feeling
- The MMC is coerced into something and it’s never actually addressed properly. Instead, it’s merely used as a plot device to cause drama
Despite the flaws, I’ll be listening to the next book on audible as it was a quick easy read and the characters (as mentioned above) are likeable. For anyone with a subscription, the series is free on there!
