The Goldfish Boy
by Lisa Thompson
I decided to read this as it's the first CBOTM from Waterstones that actually intrigued me since I have worked there (all the other books are good, just not really my thing). I didn't expect to become attached to the story and to Matty. I definitely didn't expect to feel emotional towards the book but I have. This was such a good book that focused on dark themes such as mental health problems like OCD and how dangerous it can be. Reading a book targeted at 9-12 sounds silly but reading it from an adult point of view, you can easily understand what Matty is going through and how his parents feel too. I also did not know who took Teddy and it was a shock to me. This book does remind me of The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-Time and how I really want to read that again. There's another book called Life In A Fishbowl that's recently come out and I would like to read that too. Overall I think everyone should read this no matter what age and I guarantee you'll want to help Matty through his tough time.
