Eating Animals by Jonathan Safran Foer

5.0

Recently I went vegetarian with the ultimate goal to be fully vegan (cheese really gets me). I wanted to read this book before making this choice but I knew that it would be a lot to take in while I was still consuming animal products. But I think Foer hits a balance of educating the reader about factory farming and its devastating effects and keeping other perspectives in mind. His writing never comes off as preachy or self-involved. He understands why people eat animal products even when they know the conditions of factory farms. It’s such an interesting and informative read that I’d suggest it to anyone, especially those who still eat meat and other animal products. If it doesn’t convince you to go full vegan, I think it would help people to be more conscious of their dietary choices and even that helps.
