Being the fae princess isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.

I was going into this story blind, all I knew was the fact that there was fae involved. I have to say, this was pretty entertaining. Celyse is one of two fae princesses and they are nearing marriage age, but Celyse doesn’t care to partake because she’s in love with a human. Her family treats her like she’s a problem, so she tends to wander around on her own in nature and ends up mistakenly meeting a human guy through a shimmer, named Julio. All that she has done is forbidden yet, she can’t help but disobey.

I loved that there was a diverse group of people and human-like creatures. Between the fae and the mediums, it was a full party of magical creatures. I absolutely love love love the fact that there was mention of magical practices and healing arts practices such as reiki, being a witch, and herbology. In addition to the magical experiences, we were also given familial themes, but in a different way. The absent father, overbearing mother, evil mother, absent minded father, and narcissistic siblings.

While the overall story was great and filled with amazing action and drama, there were some structural things that threw me off of the story from time to time. The beginning had things moving very quickly which made it a bit confusing. To help this, there could have been a bit more build up and development happening. At times it also felt more like the story was telling rather than showing; there was a lot of explaining happening throughout. Finally, I’m not fully sure who the protagonist was, Celyse or Julio. It was every bit as much an origin story for Julio if not more. It felt like it was his story overall, but everything else pointed to Celyse.

If you are into fae, healing magic, the connection to personal power and exerting it outwards, this is for you!

Now, I’m about to dive into [b:Fae Fractured|57651198|Fae Fractured (Fae Bloodlines, #2)|Rose Garcia|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1624388383l/57651198._SX50_.jpg|90300012], I need to see what’s next with Celyse and Julio.
