This is a book about me, and everyone in my generation.

It captures the incessant hold our phones have over us, how we never stood a chance against the tech companies with billions of dollars and government support.

It waxes poetic, in small, quiet scenes, about growing up, and wanting desperately to find your purpose with the world imploding around you, and feeling as though if someone would only listen you could change the world.

It understands that the things you want to talk to people about are seldom valued, and that the things you don't want to talk about seem to be pressing in on all sides, becoming ever more urgent even as you struggle to even lift your head to them.

It treats with frankness the sorrow and sympathy you have for the next generations, who were even younger than you when they were exposed to all of this.

Above all, this book is about being, despite the tech companies who want to harvest your data to sell you more things so they can harvest more of your data, despite the progress your friends seem to be making while you sit on the sidelines, despite everything. Despite everything, you are still you. No matter what.
