A pretty good read, and also my first romance fantasy book! I had my criticisms here and there, especially at the beginning, but they are not directly tied to the story. Overall, I give it like a 3.8/5!
Pros:
- good pacing, esp for a short story, nothing felt too rushed
- decent plot: kept me interested, caught myself thinking about this book while I was at work
- good balance of romance, action, and drama; there were no scenes where I felt like it was dragging on
Cons (purely just my opinion):
- typos: I did find a few typos/grammar mistakes in the book, but they were small mistakes. I chalked it up to it being an indie thing.
- inconsistent language: I felt there was a strange mix between, I guess, older/proper language and modern language
- I didn't really like the 1st person pov but that may be just a me thing
