The Foxhole Court
by Nora Sakavic
this book was!!!!!!! interesting to say the least. i appalled nora for coming up with a seemingly normal concept, an underdog taking a team from the bottom of the ranking back up to the top, and adding her own little twists with it. however! the twists she choose to add were certainly!! something!! i want to see whats going on with her head because i can't imagine someone coming up with the idea of exy, a game that is so vaguely explained that you have to wonder if the author herself knows what shes talking about. but folks it doesn't stop there!! she also decided to add a mafia twist to this! that's right! the japanese mafia is involved and BOY do they love exy for some reason. this book is definitely not what i was expecting from the very short descriptions i saw of it, but i don't think even the longest of summaries could prepare me for this. despite this book being not the best in writing, or plot my God does it make up for it in characters. i loved and hated every single character nora threw at me, and i think that's the most memorable part of this book. i can't wait for the next one.
edit: this is like my fourth reread of this book and i listened to the audiobook instead and can i just sayyyyy i hated the narrators voice. he does not know how to narrate female voices they all sounded the same and the way they sounded was bad. though i will say that perfectly fit within the vibe of the book so i'll let it slide.
