George's Marvellous Medicine by Roald Dahl

4.0

SpoilerChapter 5: The Cook Up—Is he stoned?

Unlike most grandmas who are friendly, caring and loving, George's grandma would be the complete opposite. Every time Mrs. Kranky is not around, she would boss George.

One day, he had had enough of the old girl and started thinking of ways to get back at her. An idea popped and he concocted a "medicine" which he is supposed to give her at eleven o'clock.

George mixed in all the ingredients he thought his grandma deserves. When it's time to give her medicine, the effect was unexpected. It made grandma grew up until she went through the roof.

Mr. Kranky, found out that the potion could turn a small animal into a giant, thought that he should multiply this potion and sell it to farmers and become rich.

Here's a line that I liked:

"For a few brief moments he had touched with the very tips of his fingers the edge of a magic world."

I supposed this book could be classified as fantasy. Sort of.
