The Christmas Bookshop by Jenny Colgan
2.0

I love Jenny Colgan so I went into this thinking I was getting a sweet, cozy Christmas rom-com, and at its core...that is what it is. However, this book is about as cozy as stepping on a LEGO because EVERYONE in this book is insufferable. Carmen, the MC, is genuinely one of the most grating people I have ever experienced in a supposedly cozy novel. I don't need my MCs to be likeable if I'm reading lit fic or horror or any other genre besides cozy romcoms. But my god! Also, Oake was barely a human and Blair was truly a dick from the beginning I couldn't even have a moment to like either of them.

This book's best moments are in the bookshop with Mr. McCreedy or when Carmen hangs with Pheobe, her lovely little niece. It's the only reason I'm giving this two stars instead of one, or rather the only reason I did not rage DNF it.
