The Midnight Witch by Paula Brackston

2.0

I wanted to like this, but it ended up just being a "meh" book for me. I felt like not much really happened--one of the main "conflicts" was the "bad guys" (Sentinels) trying to steal the Elixir and The Great Secret (which, IMHO, was a great DISAPPOINTMENT) from the "good guys" (The Lazarus coven)--but it took 6 YEARS for them to truly get close to doing so! Years went by without them doing anything to try and meet their goal. I also felt like a lot of things were left up in the air at the end--did she and her father ever reconcile? What went wrong at the end
Spoilerwhen Stricklend tried to raise Perry from the dead? I assume it was because the Dark Spirit missed Lilith telling Bram that a boy's blood was needed to raise a boy, and he used girl's blood instead, but it wasn't really explained
? Why couldn't they ever get in contact with Violet again? What the heck were the point of the shoes on the cover? (Ok, that one is silly, but really, I don't remember pretty purple shoes coming into play). And the book ended rather abruptly, it seemed.
**In all fairness, I ended up skimming through it near the end, so maybe I just missed the answers to some of these questions**
