Fear: Essential Wisdom for Getting Through the Storm by Thích Nhất Hạnh

5.0

Every book I read by Thich Nhat Hanh feels like a meditative practice in itself. I had been meaning to read this book but I picked it up when I was having another very anxiety filled day and struggling with trying to push it away and tamp it down. The exercises offered, especially at the beginning of the book, really speak to the intensity of anxiety and fear, met me where I was at, and helped me to calm myself down in way less time than I even expected.

I will continue to try and practice these teachings and others shared by Thich Nhat Hanh and the Plum Village tradition of monastics. (They have a free app with tons of meditations and a beautiful mindfulness bell! I highly recommend checking it out! The Deep Relaxation options are my current favorite for right before bed.)
