jrobin19 's review for:
The Memory Keeper's Daughter
by Kim Edwards
While I don't actually regret reading this, I wish I'd spent the last few days reading something better. I wanted to know what happened in the end, but ultimately feel let down. In all honesty, I felt let down numerous times through the book; each glimpse through the passage of time felt predictable and unfinished.
Except for Caroline Gill, I either disliked immensely or barely cared about every other character. I do think Edwards wanted to do justice to Phoebe, presenting her a person rather than just her diagnosis, but even that felt off, both trying too hard & not enough.
I get what Edwards was trying to do with this book, but it just didn't work for me.
