The Midnight Library by Matt Haig

Did not finish book. Stopped at 74%.
Honestly what wasn't wrong with this book? I thought the plot of the book was interesting, so I thought I would give it a try.
The idealization of suicide put me off right away but I thought it could maybe be turned around by having her realize her life was perfect the way it was at the end. But then I kept reading.
At first it seemed like it was going the way I thought it would and the changes to her life were interesting, but the fact that it tried so hard to sound smart and practically beat you over the head with "life lessons" was enough to make me think this book wasn't worth it.
I really should have dropped it at that point but I was at work and couldn't change it, so I unfortunately kept listening.
That's when it came to the absolutely terrible sex scene that was kind of fade to black but not? She literally jumped on him for absolutely no reason. There wasn't even a hint of attraction between them beforehand. It was literally atrocious. I already knew I didn't like reading books written by men, but this really cemented that. I'm not even exaggerating how bad this was.
And then everything after that until I was finally able to stop it was just repetitive. There was probably a whole page, if not more, that was literally the same sentence over and over just replacing the nouns.
I will never understand why anyone rates this book 5 stars. If this book only has one hater, that person is me. If it has no haters, I am dead.
