Blood Heir by Ilona Andrews

4.0

First, if you have not read the Kate Daniels series by them, I would recommend you do that first and then come back and read this.

It really will help with characters you meet along the way and the history behind it.

I really enjoyed this book in a new series, following Julie.

Nine years have passed since we last Julie now known as Aurelia Ryder... Only her brother knows who she really is as she comes back to Atlanta.

I loved we run into so many familiar faces and learn what has happened since the last book. Of course, Kate and Curran are not in the book... least no page time but they are mentioned multiple times of curse.

That was one thing I was not so sure about.... The reasoning and thing to not ‘run’ into them. I know it was to keep them off page but it just felt a little off and weak in my eyes.

Of course, Derek is back as well and things have changed and of course that he has no idea who she really is makes it even more interesting.

The one thing that is a little different than most their books is, there is no romance … at least not now... there is potential for future books with one  if not two people. I personally would love to see Ascanio more or maybe even as a love interest but I think I’m very alone with this ship lol. But I do love Clan Bouda and him even if he is sort of a jerk in this book.

I’m also curious to see more of the child she takes in... almost like history repeating itself but a little different. I definitely looking forward to see how that plays out.

Overall, I liked it a lot it had humor and tons of action and some nice twist and turns. Some things make you guess until the end but others you can figure out if you know to read between the lines.

It was a great first book in hopefully a new series. It was a bit slow in some spots but overall, I really enjoyed it and rate it 4★
