Not really a fantasy. It’s a political drama with heavy Medici and renaissance Italy vibes. And the entire book is told through the male gaze in a way that it’s beating you over the head with it. I went in expecting dragons and magic and high fantasy and was left wanting.  This book just wasn’t for me.
